The ECS cheer team (Jory, Brianna, Mina, Macy, Elli, Natalie, Emma, Laney and Coaches Kim and Kourtney) attended the Universal Cheerleaders Association cheer camp June 21-24 at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina. There were ten teams from around the state attending. The team learned cheers, band chants, stunts, and pyramids, along with team building/goal setting. Coaches also attended workshops and completed KSHSAA mandatory testing. The team earned blue ribbons each day on their evaluations of material learned and performed. On Friday teams preformed two routines, Camp Routine and Game Day Routine. ECS received a first place trophy in Game Day small division and first place trophy for best cheer overall. The team will plan to praticipate in the state Game Day Competition in Topeka on November 19, 2022. Congratulations to the cheer team on a great camp experience and to Jory Glendening and Brianna Stucky for earning All American honors!

It is a blessing to see school families serving the Lord by serving others! Three ECS parents and seven graduates traveled to Peru with a group from Bethel Mennonite Church for the first two weeks of June. They worked in the areas of children’s ministry and teen ministry, and also shared Christ through door-to-door evangelism. One parent shared, “The trip was amazing. The people there had such big hearts. It was such a reminder that we need to rely on Christ for EVERYTHING.”
“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”” Isaiah 6:8

Today the ECS volleyball team hosted Central Christian School for a morning of volleyball and growing together in Christ. The girls played in inter-squad scrimmages, where the teams were mixed instead of playing against each other. Aaron Glendening, FCA Area Rep and ECS dad, spoke to the teams from Philippians chapter 2 about how we are like minded. We may be competitors on the court during the season, but in the big picture we are all on the same team!

What a great volleyball camp we have had this week! The girls have worked hard and have learned a ton of new skills. It is always fun to see the high school team encouraging and teaching the younger girls! 🏐

The ECS playground got a facelift this weekend thanks to Jerry Flaming from Custom Playgrounds, Inc. and many additional volunteers! Jerry has traveled all around the world installing playgrounds. What a blessing to have him, along with several members of the Flaming family, come to Elyria to help with this project. Many ECS families joined in on the fun, working all day Saturday and again on Sunday afternoon to make this playground update a reality! What a great weekend to work side by side with family and friends! A huge shout out to Life Line Homes for their $10,000 matching grant as well as Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance in McPherson for their $5,000 grant. We are so thankful to the students who raised funds and to everyone who contributed financially toward the completion of this project. We are incredibly grateful and know the students will love their new playground!

Two seniors currently in the program will graduate next spring with certification in their respective areas at the same time they graduate from ECS. Congratulations, guys!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT - OLIVIA CLARK
Last on the Senior Spotlight list, but certainly not the least – Olivia Clark! This young lady is an athlete, a scholar, and a musician all wrapped up in one! She is a force on the basketball court, has a gorgeous voice which has been showcased in several musicals, and she is a leader on the ECS Worship Team. Olivia has a contagious smile, a kind spirit, and will bring joy to everyone she meets! She is a National Honor Society member, a KSHSAA Citizenship Award Winner, and is our May Fete Queen (wave to her in the parade today!). Olivia is excited to be attending the College of the Ozarks to major in Music Ministry. Congratulations, Olivia, we can't wait to see how the Lord uses you in your future endeavors!
