Poem by Mrs. Gardner 9.3.26
’Twas the night before football, and all through the school,
The Eagles were ready, determined and cool.
The blue and white had been proudly displayed,
As the first six-man team was finally made.
The jerseys were hung in the locker room with care,
While dreams of the season filled up the air.
The players together, a brand-new start,
With Eagle pride burning inside every heart.
No history behind them, no records to defend,
Just the Eagle guys, who’d fight to the end.
They’d learn, they’d grow, they’d give all they had,
Through victories, challenges, and moments gone bad.
They’ll play for their school, for their teammates, and more,
With Eagle pride soaring as never before.
Not only for touchdowns or glory or fame,
But to honor the Lord through the way that they play.
The crowd would be cheering, the Eagle would fly,
As Eagle football took over the night sky.
They weren’t just a team—they were making their mark,
Beginning a legacy that would shine in the dark.
So tomorrow, they’ll step onto that field with pride,
With courage and faith standing right by their side.
They’ll play for their school, for their team, for their name,
And give everything they have to this brand-new game.
So here’s to the Eagles, both fearless and true,
To the first six-man team dressed in blue and white too.
The journey begins beneath Friday night’s light—
Trust God! Play hard! Eagles, take flight!
