My journey at Elyria began in 2012, teaching HS science. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of also being an assistant coach for the junior high boys’ basketball team, sponsoring student StuCo, directing the spring play for two years, and serving as a class sponsor for six years. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Science Education, a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning, and a Master of Business Administration.
I was drawn to teaching at ECS because I wanted my children to have a Christian education, and teaching here allowed me to do that. There's truly no place I’d rather be than in the classroom - it’s where I am most content and what I am built to do. ECS also allows me to work in a place where I feel I can make a real difference.
God uses ECS to touch the lives of students, staff, families, and the community. Working here is an investment in the lives of others. God is faithfully at work in how He provides for the school, staff, and students, maturing hearts and transforming lives. Our graduates leave ECS prepared to make an impact in the world as pastors, teachers, missionaries, doctors, nurses, engineers, and more. My faith deeply influences my teaching, especially in how I approach Creation Science. I teach that we are called to care for the earth, following the Creation mandate with stewardship and respect.
When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy watching movies and participating in theater productions. My family and I attend Harvest Church in Hesston.
Favorite Verse:
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast to what is good. Abstain from every form of evil…He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-22, 24
