Emily's Bio

I began working at Elyria in 2019 as the secretary in the front office, accepting the position so close to the start of the school year that my first “real” day was Enrollment Day! After four years in the office, I transitioned to a teacher aide position as I enjoy working directly with the students. I have a bachelor’s degree in Business and Mass Communications.

God opened the door for me to work at ECS when my daughter started kindergarten, and since then, we’ve come to see Elyria as a family we deeply love and enjoy. The values taught here are all-encompassing and align perfectly with the morals we live by as a family. I can see God's hand at work every single day—from the deep, meaningful conversations with the older students to the hugs and "I love yous" I receive from all. God is truly working in our midst! My faith is a huge part of my everyday life. I continually lift up each student and staff by name in prayer, and I encourage students to do the same.

Outside of school, my hobbies include reading and learning as much as I can about history. I also love crocheting, walking, spending time with my friends and family, and spending time outside. My family and I attend Countryside Covenant Church in McPherson.

Favorite Verse:

“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” - 2 Corinthians 4:8-10
