Caleb Gaeddert

I began teaching at ECS in 2017 after earning my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I teach 4th grade, help direct the annual musical, serve as a JH D-group (discipleship group) leader, and regularly speak at chapel for both elementary and junior high students. My time at Elyria began right after college, because I believe Jesus should influence everything I do as a teacher. I don’t want to hide Jesus from my students at Elyria; instead, I am able to freely share what Christ has done for me, what He is teaching me, and how He is growing me. This openness allows my students to further see who God is and grow in their own relationship with Him, helping them to live out the mission of  “knowing Jesus and making Him known.”

I am at ECS because I love my students’ hearts, and I am deeply committed to them by God’s grace. Discipleship is a long-term investment, and I want to walk with my students not only through 4th grade, but beyond, as they continue to grow in their faith. A well-known author once said that life is made up of little moments, and I truly believe God works in those moments. I see His hand at ECS—whether it’s encouraging prayer in the hallways between struggling students and staff, offering kind words to friends, softening students’ hearts, or experiencing spiritual growth in my own life. God's faithfulness is evident in both the joys and challenges of our school day.

My approach to teaching is focused on Jesus. While academics are important, my goal each year is to lead my students just a little closer to Christ. Discipleship doesn’t happen just in Bible class, but 24/7. Whether it's history and science, lunch and recess, or any part of the school day, every moment of every day is an opportunity to make Christ known.

Outside of school, I enjoy bike riding, cooking, and reading.  Crestview Bible Church in Hutchinson is my church home.

Favorite Verse:

To be honest, I’m not sure I have a favorite Bible verse. I am amazed how God’s Word always speaks to me, regardless of which verses, chapters, or book of the Bible I read. Whether I need conviction (which is often), exhortation, encouragement, hope, or peace, the Bible never fails to grow my heart in knowing God more!
