Chapel

Weekly Chapel Services

Every week, all ECS students attend a chapel service where local pastors, missionaries, local college worship bands, school personnel, or fellow students lead a time of teaching, which is both educational and engaging. Our Chapel service is a time we set aside each week to intentionally connect with God through worship and to be challenged to explore the depths of God’s truth and love.

Chapel is a formational part of developing students with a heart for God. We believe that all teaching must be built on a foundation of God’s truth.

JH Worship Team

Worship Team

The worship time during our Junior High and High School Chapel Services is led by our Worship Teams, which are student-led. The Worship Team has brought a new level of excellence to the Junior High and High School Chapel experiences. The Spirit moves in a mighty way during these weekly sessions together.

Discipleship Groups

Another backbone of spiritual growth at the high school level is our Discipleship Groups. Discipleship Groups are led by students who have gone through an extensive interview process and have been prayerfully chosen by a committee of the Spiritual Life Team. Discipleship Groups offer students the chance to grow in community with other students. It lets iron sharpen iron, while also growing leadership roles for upper-class students.

We have also incorporated intentional time into our Elementary and Junior High Bible Classes to have discipleship opportunities, prayer partners, and Christian leadership building, among other similar spiritual life growth experiences.

ECS Bible

Bible Classes

The Bible is foundational at ECS. Elyria Christian School gives intentional time to biblical literacy through daily Bible classes. The Bible is woven through every subject at every level.

In elementary, our teachers help children understand that God is the center of our life, that all the things we do should glorify Him, and that all the things we learn should be from the perspective of God’s Word. K-5 enjoys Bible

Jr High and High School students have daily Bible classes which develop a student’s ability to interpret scripture and understand how the Bible shapes our beliefs and worldview. An ECS teacher's goal is to ignite in each student a love of scripture.

Junior High & High School Retreats

A favorite among the students, Junior High & High School Retreats, are also a staple of the spiritual life of the school. To begin the year, we take an overnight retreat with our High School students.

This serves as a key catalyst for the year, blending a perfect combination of chapel, small groups, student responsibility, relationship building, and the freedom of the students to be themselves. Junior high students take a day trip a few weeks into the school year. The retreat is an absolute highlight of every school year.

Senior Mission Trip

At ECS, we instill in our students a desire to engage God’s world and fulfill the Great Commission. Therefore, our seniors have the unique opportunity to go on a senior mission trip as a part of their discipleship experience. ECS has a rich history of missional outreach. Our students have participated in many life-changing mission trips throughout the history of the school.

This trip is designed to be a combination of mission and ministry experience, as well as times for group building and fellowship. The Senior Mission Trip is often a life-changing experience for the students, as they see first-hand the deep needs that exist for missions and ministry.
